Elephant Kills Pupil On Her Way To School
Three people were killed in separate incidents in Narok County, including an eight-year-old girl.
In the first incident, an elephant trampled on a toddler in Leila, Narok South, while her mother was taking her to school.
The woman, identified as Nayiara Muli, and her child were attacked by the jumbo at 8 a.m., killing the toddler on the spot, according to County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro.
According to him, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) personnel responded quickly but were unable to save the girl.
“The body had visible injuries in the back and legs,” said Mr Mutoro.
The body was taken to the mortuary at Narok County Referral Hospital.
Meanwhile, the body of a 27-year-old woman, who was raped before being murdered, was discovered near the William ole Ntimama Stadium.
According to police, the woman, identified as Violet Biseke, did not return home that night, and her body was discovered near the family’s home.
A 65-year-old man died of shock in Enoretet, Transmara South, after his 22-year-old son threatened to shoot him dead with an arrow during a domestic squabble.
According to Commander Mutoro, the deceased man, Julius Tumbes, had a disagreement with his son, Mathew Leshoo, after which the latter armed himself with a bow and arrows and threatened to shoot him.
Members of the public, however, overpowered the younger man and disarmed and arrested him.

“The complainant collapsed due to shock and was rushed to Transmara Sub-County Hospital Kilgoris, where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” he said.
According to him, officers from the Enoosaen Police Station arrested the suspect and placed him in cells pending further investigation. As evidence, the bow and five arrows were kept.
The body is at Kilgoris’ St Joseph’s Mission Hospital mortuary.
