Absa intends to plant 10,000 fruit trees in schools.
With the help of the second edition of the Birdies for Good initiative, Absa Bank Kenya hopes to plant and grow 10,000 fruit trees in schools this year.
For every birdie (golf score) scored at the 2022 Kenya Magical Open at Muthaiga Golf Club from March 3 to March 6, the bank will contribute Sh1,200 to the planting and growth of fruit trees.
Absa anticipates contributing approximately Sh6 million through this initiative.
Jane Waiyaki, the bank’s Head of Sustainability, stated at Cheleta Primary School in Runda, where Absa donated 100 fruit trees, that planting fruit trees will help improve the country’s tree cover and national nutrition.

Francis Kariuki, Head of Conservancy at Kenya Forest Services, stated that tree planting improves children’s livelihoods.
