Ministry to Strengthen School Feeding and Sanitary Towels Programs

To increase school retention, the Education Ministry will strengthen school meals program and sanitary towel distribution.

Also noteworthy is the EDU-Afya Medical Coverage for all NEMIS-registered secondary school students.

The Ministry has supported disadvantaged students through the Elimu scholarship.

Previously, these efforts were supplemented by additional scholarships from a variety of organizations.

They include Equity Bank, KCB, Co-Operative Bank, NG-CDF, and County Governments.

“The Ministry shall also strengthen the School feeding and sanitary towels provision programmes to enhance retention.

“Notable also is the EDU-Afya Medical cover for all students registered in NEMIS in public secondary schools.”

Machogu thanked well-wishers and donors who assisted students in covering various non-tuition-related expenses, such as school uniforms and personal items, for underprivileged children.

The government is committed to ensuring that every student advances from primary to secondary education.

To alleviate obstacles to secondary education, the Ministry said it will continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government to ensure that every pupil enrolls in secondary school.

National government will collaborate with county and sub-county education officials to guarantee that no pupil is denied entry to secondary school for reasons unrelated to his or her ability to do so.

To guarantee a complete transition, Ministry officials would be obliged to provide accurate daily reports on the status of reporting to schools.

This means that parents and school administrators must facilitate the admission of all secondary school students.
