Ministry Bows To KNUT Plea To Have Primary Schools Go For Mid-Term
In the spirit of consultations and mutual working relationship between the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and the Ministry of Education Science and technology, primary schools will head for mid-term this Friday.
This morning Wednesday 3rd November 2021 KNUT led by Secretary-General Colins Oyuu held talks with the PS state department of Education, Dr Julius Juan, at Jogoo House B.

“The purpose of the meeting was to address the circular that was released by the MOEST on 1st November 2021 directing Secondary schools to proceed for half term beginning 19th November 2021 following unrest and rampant fires in schools.” Oyuu revealed.
“Whereas we appreciate that allowing learners to have a break so as to ease the tension ensuing out the congested term dates as a mitigative measure, we felt that leaving out primary school teachers was segregative and in bad taste.
The union wanted all schools both primary and secondary to proceed for half term at the same time and “we are happy to announce to you that this has been granted.”
All teachers will be proceeding for half-term at the same time with learners from Friday 19th to Tuesday 23rd November 2021.
“We, therefore, want to appreciate the ministry of education and all the other stakeholders in the sector for the calm they exhibited while we were addressing this matter. As KNUT, we are committed to a consultative and dialogue-based approach to solving teachers’ challenges in the education sector moving forward.” KNUT stated.
