Man Who Defiled Form One Girl Tells Court They Agreed To Get Married
A man charged with defiling a 14-year-old girl when he was 18 in 2020 told an Eldoret court that the two had agreed to marry.
The accused stated in court that they were lovers in a marriage-destined relationship.
The accused, now 20, worked as a farmhand in the area. He stated that the girl approached him to assist her in enrolling in Form One, but he informed her that he could not pay her school fees but was willing to marry her.
The man, who was accused of defiling the girl twice in his home, claimed her mother incited her to sue him after they agreed to nurture their relationship.
According to the charge sheet, the accused defiled the girl in Kapseret sub-county between November 23 and 26, 2020.
Before Chief Magistrate Dennis Mikoyan, he denied the charge.
Because prosecution witnesses failed to appear in court, the case has been adjourned several times since October 2020.
The investigating officer has now been directed by the magistrate to ensure that all bonded witnesses appear in court.
The case will be mentioned on November 9.
Elswhere a 50-year-old gardener from Musuani, Kitui County, was arrested after being accused of defiling two sisters aged 6 and 7.
According to Makau Kithuka, one of the girls revealed the situation to their mother after being questioned about her apparent physical discomfort.
The girl also revealed that her sister had been assaulted and that the gardener had threatened them if they reported the incident.
The two sisters were taken to Migwani hospital for treatment, while the suspect is being held at the Migwani police station pending arraignment.
Mr. Kithuka has also urged parents to be extra vigilant about their domestic staff’s behavior toward their children.
