A guy accused of selling Cannabis Sativa worth Sh50,000 in a Lenana school was arraigned in a Kibera court on Wednesday, when the case was called for hearing.

James Orengo Nzau was brought before senior resident magistrate William Tullei for his arraignment.

According to the indictment delivered in court, the accused committed the crime on August 19, 2020 in the Ngando region of Nairobi County at the Lenana school.

The bhang was valued at Sh50,000, according to court documents.

Gilbert Omanga, a detective, has also testified that a young guy allegedly caused disruptions at the Lenana school.

“A young man had created disturbances at the school and we visited the place, he said that he was not the only one who cultivated the bhang, we uprooted the plants and arrested Nzau,” the court heard.

The officer informed the court that the defendant told him he utilized the plant items in their religion.

The court heard that further officers joined them at the crime scene, where they discovered the suspect alongside another woman.

On Wednesday, court prosecutor Dennis Muindi informed the court that a witness had other pressing obligations and begged the court to reschedule the hearing.

However, the suspect denied the conduct, and the court entered a not guilty plea.

The magistrate released him on Sh50,000 cash bail with a same amount of collateral.

Tullei ordered that the issue be discussed on November 17.
