Makueni County Form 1 Students To Get Scholarships15 students who took the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2021 will receive high school and university scholarships from the Family Group Foundation.Mr. Benson Mwanzia, Branch Manager of Family Bank Wote, stated that the bursary is aimed towards orphans, underprivileged children, children with disabilities, and children with chronic conditions who scored 350 or above in the KCPE.According to the manager, his firm would provide scholarships for four years of secondary school and then educate them up to the university level if they pass their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).“We had 288 applications in Makueni County, and we have vetted and identified the most deserving cases who will benefit from the bursaries,” said Mwanzia.Mwanzia told KNA on Tuesday at the Inland Church (AIC) in Wote, where the vetting was done, that the students who would be awarded the scholarship would also receive free uniform and other essential school items to ensure nothing would prevent them from enrolling in their respective secondary schools.The manager indicated that the selection of the 15 beneficiaries will be expedited in order to fulfill the foundation’s April 26 deadline of assembling all nationwide recipients in Nairobi.“Once we have selected and informed the 15 pupils targeted by the bursary, on April 26 they will join other pupils from all the 47 counties in Nairobi, whereby they will be briefed by the officials of the family bank, and there after released on 28th to join their respective schools.At the same time, Mwanzia stated that the foundation provides the recipients with a mentoring program twice a year to model healthy conduct and dissuade students from peer pressure and drug misuse so they may reach their full potential in life.ALSO READ:He also said that the Family Group Foundation provides internship opportunities to students as part of their scholarship program.“Supporting these bright and needy students from poor families to access education, is our way of giving back to the society transforming their lives, reducing poverty and giving them an opportunity to contribute to the growth of our country,” said Mwanzia.Makueni County Form 1 Students To Get Scholarships
