Magoha Releases 2021 KCPE Exams.
Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has officially announced the 2021 KCSE Exams.
This is the last examination being released under the administration of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Magoha also revealed that this is the second last release of the National Examination before we fully transition into the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
President Uhuru Kenyatta received the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) national examination results today at State House in Nairobi from Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha and officials from the exams council, ahead of their public release.
At the event, President Kenyatta praised the Ministry of Education and the KNEC team for conducting credible national exams despite school calendar disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Joseph Kinyua, the Head of Public Service, Dr. Fred Matiang’i, the Interior Cabinet Secretary, Teachers Service Commission CEO Nancy Macharia, KNEC Chairman John Onsati, and the council’s Chief Executive Officer David Njeng’ere.
This year, over 1.2 million students took their KCPE exams at 28,213 examination centers across the country.
Candidates below the required age increased from 26,000 to 33,000 in Baringo, Bomet, Kericho, West Pokot and Nyamira
12 counties registered more females than males. In 2020 there were 20 of them.
During the press conference, Magoha stated that the overall performance in 2021 was lower than in 2020. In this year’s exam, the best candidate received 428 points out of a possible 500.
The CS also stated that there were fewer cases of exam malpractice this year compared to previous years, and that his Ministry is working to ensure that these cases are completely eliminated.

Magoha stated that the leakage had been stopped by the container-system used for the storage of examination papers.
“The container system, which we picked from Uganda, is very water tight. It has proven to be the best and there are no exam leakages any longer,” stated Magoha, who warned rogue individuals against trying to leak the exams.
