Magoha Reacts To DCI Reports Of KCSE Exam Leakage.
Prof George Magoha has reacted to reports by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) about exam leakage in the country.
The Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) stated that as the head of the sector, he was the only one authorized to speak on exam matters.
“I urge the media to listen to me and nobody else. We shall not allow any political narrative into the examination process,” warned Prof Magoha.
He did, however, state that official statements concerning KCSE exams would only come from his office or the chairperson of the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
Prof. Magoha stated that all examination centers should not have cell phones except for two; one owned by the center managers and one for the security of the examination center, referring to the cell phone menace as the enemy of examinations for the candidates.
“We do not need cellphones in examination centers except two for emergency purposes, one with the center manager and another with one of the security personnel. All other people will have their phones left at home, they do not need them,” said the CS.
The CS went on to say that those involved in the exam malpractice were people who did not value their children and were killing the country’s bright future.
Prof. Magoha and Amb. Simon Nabukwesi, Principal Secretary (PS), State Department for University Education and Research, were in Kisumu County to oversee the distribution of KCSE examination papers at various examination centers.
PS Nabukwesi agreed with the CS that the ongoing KCSE examinations were going well across the country, with no major issues reported as the exercise entered its second week.
Nabukwesi praised the school principals, education directors, and security personnel who manned the exams for their concerted efforts to improve the exams’ credibility both locally and internationally.

Magoha Dismisses Claims Of KCSE Leakage
He spoke on Monday at the Kisumu East Deputy County Commissioner’s office, where he oversaw the distribution of KCSE exam papers.
He stated that the good coordination of the team in charge of the exams in the Sub County has ensured that the process runs within the parameters and guidelines that have been established.
“Let us demonstrate to the candidates that we also passed our exams by not fostering an examinations stealing culture,” Nabukwesi said as he cautioned teachers who may be hell-bent on assisting candidates to cheat in exams.

“Anybody who assists students to commit exam malpractices was also helped to steal exams during his/her time,” said the PS.
Furthermore, he urged the principals to remain steadfast in upholding the integrity of the examination administration until the end, and not to be swayed by rumors about exam leakages in the country and be tempted to commit the offense.
