Machogu Tells Parents What To Do If Unhappy School Placement

Cases of parents rejecting schools in which their children have been placed have increased over time.

According to Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, parents or guardians dissatisfied with the schools in which their children have been placed are free to approach the heads of schools of their choice.

However, Machogu has urged parents to take the children to the placed schools.

“Those who may not be satisfied with schools where the children have been placed can approach the desired schools for assistance,” he said.

Monday saw the release of Form 1 placement results at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development in Nairobi, where the Cabinet Secretary addressed.

The learners will report to their respective schools between February 6 and 13.

Machogu stated that the procedure was conducted fairly.

“The selection process was based on merit and availability of space in schools,” he said.

According to the CS, 107,461 girls and 91,566 boys have been admitted to county schools nationwide.

“We have also admitted 111,105 females and 117,055 males in extra county schools,” he said.

In addition, Machogu stated that 18,794 females and 20,178 males were placed in 106 national schools.

The CS also said that the government is evaluating all private and public schools to see whether or not they are prepared to accept learners to junior secondary.

The practice, which began on January 9, will conclude on Friday, according to him.

The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether or not schools have sufficient classrooms, laboratories, water, and electricity.
