Machogu Issues New School Operating Hours Directive

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has given a directive to all school heads to ensure that they abide by the established timeline for schools.

The CS emphasized that students should not be exposed to long hours of studying in school as this could lead to unnecessary stress and strain.

According to Machogu, the stipulated time for schools is from 8 am to 3.45 pm and he wants to ensure that students are protected from any unnecessary travel.

The CS spoke at the Nairobi Primary Junior Secondary School on Monday and highlighted the importance of ensuring that students get adequate sleep.

He noted that children should sleep for nine hours in order to avoid the strain and mental torture that could result from extended hours in school.

Machogu’s directive is aimed at ensuring that students are protected from any harm that could result from extended hours in school.

On Monday, the pioneers of Grade seven reported to their respective primary schools to commence their Junior Secondary school education.

The Education Cabinet Secretary, Ezekiel Machogu, visited Nairobi Primary School to oversee the registration process and evaluate the first-day experience of the learners.

This year, over 1.26 million learners will embark on their Junior Secondary education within their primary schools.

The admission of these learners follows a series of preparations made by the Ministry of Education.

This includes the distribution of textbooks, uniform directives and ongoing teacher recruitment programs.

The Ministry has directed that no parents should be forced to buy uniforms from a specific store, giving parents more flexibility in their choice of uniforms for their children.

Cabinet Secretary Machogu emphasized that every learner will receive a textbook for core subjects and optional subjects.

This will ensure that all learners have equal access to learning materials and will provide a strong foundation for their Junior Secondary education.

The Ministry of Education has also emphasized the importance of quality education in the Junior Secondary level.

This is crucial in preparing the learners for their future academic pursuits, as well as preparing them for their future roles as responsible citizens.

Overall, the start of the Junior Secondary school education for the pioneers of Grade seven marks a significant milestone in their academic journey.
