Kuccps Portal For Inter-institutional Transfers Opened

2021 KCSE candidates can now change the universities and colleges they were assigned to join.

In a press release, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (Kuccps) announced that an online system will be opened to facilitate inter-institutional transfers.

Students placed in Technical and Vocational Education Training Institutions (Tvets) will also transfer from the colleges and courses they were placed in under the system.

Inter-institutional transfers, according to Kuccps chief executive officer Dr. Agnes Wahome, are the final step in the student placement process, during which students who have secured admission in universities, colleges, and Tvet institutions through Kuccps are allowed to make a final switch from one institution to another if they so desire.

Kuccps portal will be opened on Monday, July 25, 2022, to allow for inter-institutional transfer applications for students placed to various universities, colleges, and Tvet institutions,” she said

The inter-exchange exercise will conclude on August 24, 2022.

During this year’s placement, a total of 123,963 students with C+(plus) or higher grades were assigned to universities to pursue various courses, while another 124,258 were assigned to Tvet institutions.

Despite qualifying, 555,573 students with grades C and lower did not apply for placement in Tvet institutions.

Students from various universities, including those assigned to the Technical University of Kenya (Tuk), have already reported.

According to Dr. Wahome, in order for a transfer application to be approved, an applicant must meet the cut off points for the programs to which he or she wishes to transfer.

“A transfer application must be endorsed by both the receiving and the releasing institutions, which have been enabled to do so online. Hence, students will not have to physically visit the institutions,” said Dr Wahome.

She also stated that applicants will be able to track the status of their applications through the portal, and that once approved, transfer letters will be posted on the portal for the applicant to download.

Most universities expect first-year students to begin reporting in September, when the first semester of their academic year begins.
