KUCCPS Clarifies Ksh1,500 Students Placement Fee

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has clarified why it charges a mandatory Ksh1,500 fee for students seeking admission into higher learning institutions.

The government institution stated that the fee is in line with the placement policy and processing procedure, which is available on its website. KUCCPS also charges institutions a membership fee of Ksh100,000 for universities and Ksh70,000 for colleges annually.

The placement service clarifies that students pay Ksh1,500 for general placement services, with those at the school level paying Ksh500 and Ksh1,000 during the first revision.

For candidates who did not apply while in school, they must pay Ksh1,500 during the first revision. During the second revision, Ksh1,000 is charged, but only for applicants who were not placed in the first revision.

KUCCPS has urged concerned applicants to visit their official website for more information on the placement procedure. The institution noted that the fee is essential for the service they offer, and it is part of their policy to charge for placement.

While the application process is fully digitalized, the organization’s annual membership fee and the charges imposed on students for the placement service are aimed at supporting the placement process.

The placement service has not yet opened the portal for 2023 university placements, but it promised to convey more details in due time. It is essential to note that the KUCCPS fee structure is in line with the government’s directive to have affordable tertiary education.
