KUCCPS Clarifies 5 Major Students Concerns Regarding University Placement
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has provided clarification on a range of issues concerning the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates ahead of the opening of the online portal.
Responding to several concerns, KUCCPS emphasized that the application dates will be publicized on their website and social media platforms in due time.
One of the main concerns was the minimum entry grade for government sponsorship, with reports suggesting that the university entry grade had been raised to B-(minus).
KUCCPS clarified that it has not yet announced the minimum entry grade and will do so in due time. Furthermore, the revised university minimum entry grade will not affect the 2021 KCSE candidates applying for placement this year.
Candidates also asked whether they could pursue two programs concurrently while being sponsored by the government, but KUCCPS clarified that the government can only sponsor one program.
There was also confusion about the looming hike of fees for universities, but KUCCPS clarified that it was only responsible for the placement of sponsored students at universities and colleges.
Matters regarding school fees are regulated and decided by the Ministry of Education and the Universities Fund.
KUCCPS explained that candidates will have the chance to revise their preferred program, including changing learning institutions.
It also clarified that it does not place students in Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), and candidates seeking placement in KMTC should contact the institution for further assistance.
KUCCPS places candidates at universities and other institutions of higher learning across the country, and each institution pays an annual membership fee.
The online portal for applications has not yet opened, but KUCCPS has assured candidates that the application dates will be publicized in due time on their website and social media platforms.
