While in Nyeri, Magoha announced special consideration for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.

The education secretary was speaking at Mahiga Girls High School when he stated that all students would be treated equally.

Magoha stated that the government was aware that some children were learning under extremely difficult conditions, which would be taken into account during grading.

“I do not want to elaborate how this will be done but I want to assure the students that they do not have to worry as they sit for their national examinations in March,” he said.

Magoha also stated that the government was concerned about how the COVID-19 pandemic had affected learning. He also stated that despite insecurity in some areas of the country, all candidates would take their exams.

The Ministry of Education will collaborate with the Ministry of Interior to keep the situation in Lamu under control.

Banditry has affected the majority of schools along the Kerio Valley belt, which runs through Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, and Baringo counties.

The professor cautioned teachers against sending away who had not paid their school fees. Education, according to Magoha, is a right of all Kenyan children, and no one should use a lack of fees to keep students away from the classroom.
