KNEC Releases Exams Timetable For CBC, 8-4-4 exams

The Grade 6 and Class 8 national examinations timetable has been released.

According to a schedule published by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), Grade Six examinations began on Monday.

Candidates for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education will have rehearsals on Friday, November 25, and exams will commence on Monday, November 28.

David Njengere, chief executive officer of Knec, stated that all schools had till September 9 to download and deliver Competency-Based Curriculum tests.

This is after Knec made assessment materials available on its website.

After students have taken the exams, schools will have one week to upload their results to the platform.

Sixth-grade students have completed their projects and practicals for the national evaluation.

In the Art and Craft section, students were tested on their knowledge of marionette-making, while the Home Science question assessed their sewing skills.

In Science and Technology, students had to create a circulatory system model, while in Music they were expected to perform a folk song of their choosing.

In Physical Education, students were required to crawl and swim, skip a rope, and catch a ball with both hands.

Learners will be examined in 13 core topics during the sixth grade summative examinations: Kiswahili, English, Mathematics, Home Science, Agriculture, Science and Technology, Creative Arts (Art, Craft, and Music), Moral and Life Skills, and Physical and Health Education.

Other options include social studies (Citizenship, Geography, and History) and a foreign language (French, German, Chinese and Arabic).

By September 16, all schools must have uploaded their projects and practical work on the Knec portal.

School-based assessment (SBA), which is conducted annually in upper primary schools, and a five-subject national test will be used to determine the results.

Sixty percent of a student’s grade will be determined by SBA in grades four through six, plus forty percent of the summative report.

Sixth-grade students will take the Kenya Primary School Education assessment at the end of the school year.

On November 28, for the KCPE, students will take Mathematics in the morning, followed by English Language and English Composition in the afternoon.

They will take Science, Kiswahili Lugha, and Kiswahili Insha on November 29. Wednesday’s final exams will be in Social Studies and Religious Education.

On Friday, December 2, Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education students will begin their examinations with the English Language subject, followed by the Chemistry paper.

On Monday, December 5, they will take Paper 1 in mathematics, followed by Paper 2 in English (Comprehension, Literary Appreciation & Grammar).

The next day, students will take Chemistry Paper 2 and English Paper 3 (Creative Composition and Essays Based on Set Texts).
