KNEC Issues Statement On KCSE, KCPE Exam Postponement Reports
Following reports of national examination postponement, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) issued a statement.
KNEC stated in a press release issued on Wednesday, November 8, that both the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) would be held as scheduled.
The examination council was responding to social media reports that the dates of the national examinations scheduled for March 2022 had been pushed back.
“The Kenya National Examination Council’s attention has been drawn to information circulating in the social media on the postponement of the KCPE and KCSE national examinations.
“It is in this regard that we wish to inform all relevant stakeholders that there are no changes to the KCPE and KCSE national examination dates,” the statement read in part.
Following the Council’s announcement, students and teachers in secondary schools will continue to prepare for the KCSE exams, which will begin on February 28, 2022.
In the midst of calls to postpone the national exam, it was unclear what would have happened to some students who had already begun their practical exams in July and were scheduled to complete their projects in January 2022.
Candidates in primary schools, on the other hand, are expected to begin their examination on March 7, 2022, with the Mathematics exam.
