Kirinyaga Teacher Arrested For Allegedly Defiling Pupil

A 46-year-old primary school teacher was arrested in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, for allegedly defiling a class eight candidate.

The incident was reported to the Kiamutugu police station, where it was recorded under the number OB NO /11/21/10/2022.

Mr. Adward Ndirangu, the sub-county police chief of Gichugu, confirmed the arrest.

The officer asserts that the teacher lured the 15-year-old girl to his home, which is not far from his teaching station.

“Our investigations have shown that the suspect is also the pupil’s class teacher,” noted Officer Ndirangu – adding that the alleged incident happened on September 30, during lunch time.

Mr. Ndirangu added, “The suspect is being held at the Kiamutugu police station pending his court appearance on Tuesday.”

The girl’s mother revealed to Wananchi Reporting that her daughter confessed to the incident voluntarily.

“She told me that the teacher told her to swallow some two tablets before the act to avoid getting pregnant,” said the mother.

The girl was given medical attention at the Kiamutugu Health Centre.

The police chief of Gichugu has decried the increase in defilement cases in the region.

He advised the locals to report such incidents to the police rather than resolving them at home.

Elswhere, a middle-aged man was apprehended in the county of Nyamira for allegedly molesting a nine-year-old girl.

The 40-year-old cobbler defiled the young girl as she brought her shoes to be repaired on Saturday evening; he has since been arrested and is awaiting charges.

Her ordeal began when her mother sent her on an all-too-familiar errand.

The man identified as Evans Orara Ombeki is then alleged to have sexually assaulted the girl before asking her to leave and return home with the shoes.

According to her father, he received a call at work informing him that his daughter had been sexually assaulted.

Her condition upon admission to the hospital, according to the doctors who treated her, was so grave that she required surgery.

She had suffered a second-degree tear, so we had to transport her to the operating room to have it repaired. Dr. Angela Ogendi, Nyamira Refferal Hospital said.

Evans was well-known to the victim’s family, and his actions have taken them by surprise.

Human rights activists in the county condemned the act and demanded prompt investigations and prosecution of the suspect, who is currently in police custody awaiting arraignment.
