Top KCPE Candidates Get Their Dream Schools.
Candidates who passed the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination in 2021 now know which national schools they will attend.
The Ministry of Education released the Form One selection results yesterday.
The students received phone notifications while they wait for letters outlining what they must do when they report.
Some students were fortunate to be assigned to schools of their choice, while others will have to make do with the ones that were assigned to them.
Magata Bruce Makenzie, the top candidate with 428 points, will attend Alliance High School, a school of his choosing.
According to his Gilgil Hills Academy Headteacher Lawrence Anyona, 53 of 109 candidates were chosen for national schools.
Ashley Kerubo of Makini School Kisumu, who received an admission notification from Kenya High School after scoring 427 points and finishing second nationally, was overjoyed.
“I did not expect anything less, it has always been my dream school,” said Kerubo.
It was a time of celebration in the Western region, where candidates with outstanding results were chosen for schools such as Kenya High, Alliance Girls, Alliance High, Loreto Girls Limuru, St Brigid’s Girls Kitale, and Moi Girls Eldoret, Mang’u High, and Lugulu Girls.
Charity Buyanzi Kwoma of Holy Family Misikhu Girls Primary School in Bungoma, who scored 426 points and finished third nationally, will attend Kenya High, her dream school.
Out of 434 candidates at Bungoma DEB Primary School, 73 were chosen to attend national schools.
Emmanuel Kiplagat, the top candidate from Moi Primary School Kabarak, who scored 425 points and was ranked in the top ten nationally, will attend Kapsabet Boys High School.
Malcom Murimi (424 points) will join Mang’u, while Elenor Oigo (421 points) will join Kenya High while Musita Stephanie Nabwire of Kitengela’s The Orchard School will join Lulgulu Girls after scoring 424 points.
Mitto Joy Femur, who received 418 points at Migori Primary School, will attend Kenya High School as she desired as Brian Mwandoe Kivunga of Taita Taveta County, who scored 421 points, will be happy to attend Alliance High School.
567 students from slums were given first-choice admission to national schools. In addition, 314 others were placed in national and extra-county schools as a result of affirmative action.
“This intervention is in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s rallying call that we consider needy and vulnerable children in informal settlements,” said the CS.
This arrangement has identified slums in Thika, Nyeri, Kisumu, Nairobi, Mombasa, Nakuru, and Eldoret.
