Education CS George Magoha said during the release of the KCPE examination results at Mtihani House that female candidates continued to shine in English and Kiswahili.

Math, English, and Religious studies all saw a drop in performance. Kenya sign language performed similarly between the two years.
Magoha also stated that the exam had more females than males in 12 counties: Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Meru, Isiolo, Nairobi, Tharaka Nithi, Bungoma, Kakamega, Kisumu, Busia, Vihiga, and Siaya.
The number of absent candidates fell from 12,424 to 11,500, while the number of registered candidates under the required age increased from 26,000 to 33,000.
The counties with the most candidates are Baringo, Bomet, Kericho, West Pokot, and Nyamira.
