Candidates who took the exam have three options for checking their results:
– Via KNEC SMS code 20076
– Making use of an online KNEC portal
– Paying a visit to the respective school

1. VIA KNEC SMS code 20076

You can check the KCPE class of 2021-2022 results by sending an SMS from Safaricom, Airtel, or Telcom to 20076 with the Index Number followed by the initials KCPE.
SMS costs Ksh. 25 per message across all networks. Send the SMS with the following format: IndexNumberKCPE.
There should be no space between the Index number and the KCPE; also, the KCPE should be written in capital letters.
Navigate to Messages on your phone.
– Type in your index number.
– Use SMS code 20076 to send a message.
– You will receive a message confirming your results.

2. Use of an online KNEC portal

You only need to remember your index number and have access to your mobile phone or computer to use this method to check the results for 2021/2022.
Here’s how to do it:
a) Go to the KNEC Official Website (knec.ac.ke)
b) Locate and click on the KCPE Results tab.
c)Choose the year in which you took the Exams.
d) Type in your Index number.
e) At the end, click the Submit button.
After a while, your KCPE results should appear on the screen.

3. Paying a visit to a former primary school

Finally, candidates can check their KCPE 2021/2022 results by visiting their former schools a day after the examination is officially released this week.
Downloading the Entire School’s Results
After the results are announced, you can download them at http://www.knec-portal.ac.ke.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) wishes to bring to the attention of all institutions that submitted candidates for the KNEC examinations the following information:

Each institution that enters candidates for the KNEC examinations will be given a hard copy of the institution’s examination results printout and result slips, which will include the following information:
– The Code and Name of the Institution
This appears on the printout’s top left side. The institution’s code is a one-of-a-kind number that the Council uses to identify an examination center. This is the number that should be used whenever an institution communicates with KNEC.
– Candidate Information.
The candidates’ information is listed below the institution’s name and code. These details include the candidate’s index number, examination year, gender, individual subject grades, and the mean grade.
Instructions for downloading the Kcpe 2022 result slips
To access all of the school’s result slips, simply follow the simple steps outlined below.
– Go to the official KNEC schools’ portal at https://www.knec-portal.ac.ke/. You’ll notice a window below;
– Now, choose ‘ON-LINE RESULT SLIP.’ The window shown below will open. To access the KNEC portal, enter your User Name (School Knec Code) and Password from the KCPE 2022 registration. As shown in the window below, click ‘Login.’
– Once inside the portal, you’ll notice a number of boxes. First, in the box labeled ‘FROM INDEX,’ enter the index number of the first candidate (in full), and in the box labeled ‘TO INDEX NUMBER,’ enter the index number of the last candidate. ‘VIEW REPORT’ should be selected.
– Hold on while the result slips load. When all of the slips have been loaded, select the ‘EXPORT’ menu option.
– Choose the format in which you want to export the KCPE Result Slips, such as ‘WORD’ or ‘PDF.’
– The KCPE Result Slips will be downloaded to your computer’s offline storage.
– Finally, you can print the downloaded result slips.

The following are the key features of the examination results:
X – denotes a candidate who is absent. If a candidate fails to appear for one or more papers in the examination, he or she is declared absent. The symbol AB, on the other hand, indicates an absence in the KCPE examination results.
The letter Y indicates that the candidate was involved in an exam irregularity. The symbol 00 denotes an irregularity in the KCPE examination results.
P- indicates that the candidate’s examination results have been postponed due to a violation of the examination’s entry requirements, such as incorrect KCPE details for entry into the KCSE examination.
W- indicates that the candidate’s examination results have been withheld due to suspicions of examination malpractice, and that investigation is ongoing.
U- denotes ungraded examination results as a result of violating the awards criteria.
Descriptions of Mean Grade Awards
– If a candidate is absent from all subjects, the mean grade will be X.
– If one or more subjects are canceled, the mean grade will be Y.
– If the results are postponed, the mean grade will be P.
– If the exam results are withheld, the mean grade will be W.
The details of pended, withheld, and irregularities are communicated to the institution via the Sub County Director of Education at the time of examination results release and are received by the institutions at the same time as the examination results.

When certificates for a specific examination are ready for collection/dispatch from KNEC, the institutions will be notified via mass and print media, Sub County Directors of Education, and/or institution heads.
