2022 KCPE candidates are the sixth and second-last batch of 8-4-4 learners to be accepted to secondary schools under the government’s policy of 100 percent transition.

The Ministry is committed to ensuring that parents/guardians of students entering Form One are not overloaded with requirements.

Machogu noted that Principals should be cautious while stating requirements in order to lower the expense of education as much as possible.

Hea also asked Principals to ensure that no student gets expelled because of illegal levies.

All candidates with a score of 400 or higher were placed in National or Extra County schools of their choice during the placement process.

The Special Needs Education candidates were also placed in the ordinary schools of their choice, while others were placed in special schools depending on their disability categories and merit.

The Ministry has implemented affirmative action to ensure equality for slum children.

This year, 270 children from slum areas were placed in their preferred national and out-of-county schools.

This is in addition to placements placed on merit and other factors.

This effort is consistent with the government’s aim to attain parity in education by focusing on the disadvantaged and vulnerable children living in urban informal settlements.
