Govt Releases 2023 Normal School Academic Calendar.
The Ministry of Education has announced the school calendar for the 2023 academic year, restoring the normal routine that had been disturbed by the pandemic.
In a circular dated November 7, Education PS Julius Jwan stated that schools would return to the standard calendar that former Education CS George Magoha altered in 2020.
All children will report to school on January 23, and the first term will conclude on April 21 after 13 weeks.
The second term will run from 8 May to 11 August.
Between June 29 and July 2, students will enjoy a three-day midterm break.
They will close between August 12 and August 27 for the end-of-term two breaks before reopening for the third term.
The last term of 2023 will run from August 28 to November 3, with KCPE exams held over four days between November 6 and November 9.
According to the revised circular, Form 4, KCSE applicants are anticipated to take their exams between November 10 and December 1.
The Ministry of Education also published the term dates for students enrolled in teachers’ training colleges (TTCs) around the nation.
Training institutions whose first terms began on August 29 and ended on December 2 will begin their second terms on January 23 and expire on April 21, 2023.
In April 2023, students will take a two-week break instead of the regular four weeks while the ministry returns to a normal schedule.
The second term will last thirteen weeks, from January 23 to April 21, 2023, followed by a two-week hiatus from April 22 to May 7, 2023.
The third term will run from May 8, 2023, to August 11, 2023, followed by a three-week break from August 12, 2023, to September 1, 2023.
Jwan encouraged all field agents to inform the affected institutions of the modifications.
