Musungu Muragwa, Mt Elgon Sub County Quality Assurance Officer, says plans are in the works to reintroduce co-curricular activities in schools.
Muragwa told KNA in his office at Kapsokwony that a lack of co-curricular activities had a greater impact on the students’ moral development.
He stated that the Ministry of Education intends to resurrect music, drama, and sports festivals beginning with the academic year 2022/2023, which begins in April 2022.
He stated that the lack of co-curricular activities in educational institutions has lowered the morale of most students, as some of them were motivated by these activities in school.

Muragwa stated that talent would never be hidden, and the children have gone so far as to showcase their talent in churches, funerals, and other events.
He also mentioned that they had improved the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) program, which engages students not only in classwork but also in extracurricular activities.
The officer lamented how difficult it was to put the policy into action because it only allowed people who had followed the Covid 19 guidelines, which included vaccinated people, to participate in co-curricular activities.
