More than 100 teams from Sabatia Constituency, Vihiga County are battling out in Kahi Indimuli Raw Talent Search tournament that kicked off last month at Chavakali High School playground.
The teams picked from 7 wards in Sabatia to compete at the grass-root level before being cut down to 28 at the group stages, where only 4 groups will be featured to produce 2 teams for quarterfinals.
The tournament coordinator, Maxwell Okwiri announced several events including Covid-19 and drug abuse sensitisation have been outlined to precede the competition.
“At the moment Vihiga County has gained popularity in as far as soccer is concerned, having produced women’s league champions Vihiga Queens, Vihiga United and Vihiga Bullets, who are currently featuring in national super league,” he noted.
Okwiri said competition sponsor Indimuli is enthusiastic to give the youth a platform to showcase their talent.
Some of the teams expected for the event are Red Devils, Vigogo United, Chavogere FC and Chandumba among others with finals set for late November.
