Magata Bruce Mackenzie, the father of 2021 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination top candidate, has spoken out following his son’s stellar performance.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Monday, March 28, the elated Jared Magata stated that he expected his son to perform well, but he did not expect him to be ranked first in the country.
Bruce, a student at Gilgil Hills Academy, came in first place with 428 points out of a possible 500.
Magata stated that his son wished to attend Alliance High School and later pursue a career in Aeronautical Engineering.
“I am in Kisii and I am so happy. I expected he would pass but did not think he would be number one. Bruce is in Ongata Rongai. I think he already knows but his phone is busy, I am not able to reach him.
"I planned for him to join Alliance. I talked to him to get the dream school. His dream is Aeronautical Engineering. He is not so much into medicine,” stated the elated father.
Bruce was followed during the announcement by Momanyi Ashley Kerubo of Makini School, who received 427 points, and Kuoma Charity Buyanzi of Holy Family Misikhu Girls Primary School, who received 426 points.
Mbugua Sharon Wairimu of Emmanuel Springs finished fifth with 426 points, followed by Muteti Shantel Ndinda of Kitengela International School with 426 points.
Momanyi Ashley Kerubo received high praise from Margaret Wanyonyi, the Headteacher of Makini School in Kisumu, which produced the second-best candidate.
She remarked that Kerubo was a very hardworking candidate who collaborated closely with her teachers and other students and was very inquisitive.
