Writing Workshop For Development Of Curriculum Designs For Senior Secondary School Kicks Off.
The Secondary Education Department, led by Ms. Subira Neema, organized an 11-day Phase II workshop to develop Curriculum Designs for the remaining 20 Grade 10 learning areas.
The team includes KICD (Subject Secretaries), Ministry of Education Quality Assurance officers, Kenya Examination Council, Teacher Service Commission, secondary school teachers, and lecturers from Technical Training Institutes, Teacher Training Colleges, and Universities.
Ms. Subira Neema gave the participants an overview of Senior Secondary School and curriculum development guidelines at the start of the workshop.
They were also shown how to internalize and contextualize the skills in the seven cross-curricular core competencies in specific subject areas, as well as how to identify PCIs and values to be mainstreamed in individual learning areas in secondary school.
Dr Mary Wambaria-Ag, Senior Deputy Director Curriculum Development, officially opened the workshop on behalf of the Director, Prof. Charles Ong’ondo.
Dr. Wambaria encouraged the participants to be CBC ambassadors because they are involved in the curriculum development process.
She also encouraged them to work with integrity and professionalism in order to create high-quality curriculum designs.
Ms Subira urged the participants to give it their all and ensure that the documents meet the needs of the intended learners.
