Primary Schools Head Teachers conference set for December

Following the lifting and relaxation of Covid-19 containment measures, the 16th Kenya Primary Schools Head Teachers Association (KEPSHA) annual delegates’ conference will be held on December 27.

KEPSHA chairman Johnson Nzioka announced on Friday that the meeting will take place at the Sheikh Zayed grounds in Mombasa.

Nzioka stated that the agenda will be revealed later, but other teachers stated that the challenges of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) will be at the top of the agenda.

Nzioka stated that the four-day event’s date was decided during a meeting at the KEPSHA headquarters in Nairobi.

“We are currently working on the programme, which will cover the four-day event and release as soon as possible,” he said.

The event’s theme, according to Nzioka, is “Headteachers: Leading in Crisis, Reimagining the Future.”

The 10,000 primary school principals typically attend the conference in the morning and then spend the afternoon walking on the sandy beaches, sightseeing, and swimming in the Indian Ocean.

However, their celebration was ruined by Covid-19 last year, when the government banned public gatherings and imposed restrictions on people’s movements, including lockdowns, in order to halt the spread of the pandemic.

Nzioka yesterday promised to provide details on how the conference will be held but assured the government that the forum will follow Ministry of Health health protocols.
