Schools Warned Against Giving Out Form One SlotsSecondary school principals have been warned not to award Form One slots belonging  to students who have not reported.In a circular issued on Wednesday, Basic Education PS Dr Julius Jwan stated that the slots would be assigned to students until Education CS Prof George Magoha stated otherwise.“Because of 100 per cent transition, schools shall not replace any student who fails to turn up until the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education declares the exercise is over,” read the statement.Dr. Jwan said that beneficiaries of Elimu Scholarships should have their places reserved until they reportThe information is contained in a circular dated May 4 and distributed to all County Directors of Education.It is also forwarded to the Education Cabinet Secretary, the Chief Administrative Secretary, the Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission, and the Regional Directors of Education. The officials have been directed to ensure that the information is communicated to all schools across the country.Dr. Jwan stated that the process, which began nationwide on May 4, will continue until a complete transition is achieved.ALSO READ:During the exercise, Dr. Jwan directed the schools to submit daily admissions reports to the County Directors of Education using a template provided to them, with information on all students admitted uploaded to the National Education Management Information System.He asked schools to ensure that internal systems are in place to support new students, particularly those who are vulnerable or have special needs.
