CBC Seeks To Enable Learners Realize Full PotentialAccording to Dr. Sara Ruto, Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) will focus more on improving learners’ abilities and potential.The Ministry of Education’s Policy Initiatives, according to Dr. Ruto, necessitate that the CBC, competency-based teacher education, and competency-based assessment be aimed on increasing learners’ talents and potential.“The access, equity and relevance will continue guiding principles for education policy, curricular and standards,” she said.The CAS made the statements in her office when the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), Mr. Charles North, paid a courtesy call at the Ministry of Education Headquarters on Monday.Mr. North stated in his remarks that the Global Partnership for Education was impressed with Kenya’s educational efforts.He added that President Uhuru Kenyatta and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson co-hosting the Global Education Summit managed to generate a record US$4 billion from donors for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), for Finance GPE 2021-2025, under the “Raise Your Hand” financing initiative.Mr. North, who praised President Uhuru Kenyatta as a strong promoter of education, expressed the expectation that throughout his presidency, the President will write opinions in media about his views and work on education.Dr. Julius Jwan, the Principal Secretary for Basic Education, said the government was improving its ability to assess students online.ALSO READ:He mentioned that the government was improving teacher training programs for those who had received PI training but had not yet been hired.“The government has also integrated ICT in the training to ensure teachers coming from colleges, have the technical capacity to integrate ICT in teaching and learning,” said Jwan.Mrs. Martha Ekirapa, the Regional Manager for Eastern and Southern Africa, Mr. Fazte Rabbani, GPE Regional Partnership Leader Africa and Asian Pacific, Ms. Victoria Egbetatayo, the National Coordinator of GPE Projects in Kenya, and other senior Education officials attended the meeting.CBC Seeks To Enable Learners Realize Full Potential
