Drunk Teacher Arrested For Hugging Schoolgirls, Sending Fare, and Hosting Students at a Hotel
A high school teacher was arrested after allegedly hugging and hosting three students at a hotel in Machakos County.
The three are between the ages of 15 and 17. Two of the girls are in Form 3, and the other is in Form 2.
The teacher, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, works at a secondary school in Kola, Machakos sub-county.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the minors were students at the school where the teacher was stationed and had all been sent home for failure to pay school fees.
On Wednesday, officers from Machakos police station apprehended him after receiving a tip from members of the public.
The teacher was summoned from the hotel where he had been hosting the minors.
According to Machakos sub-county police commander Moss Ndhiwa, the suspect has been arrested and an investigation into the incident has begun.
According to Ndhiwa, the teacher was drunk when he was arrested.
The teacher was rescued by police after he was surrounded by members of the public inside the hotel where he was entertaining the three girls.
According to the minors, the teacher asked them to travel to Machakos town and meet them.
“The teacher followed us when we were in school and gave us his phone number. I never called him. He instead called me the same night since he had taken my number too,” one of the girls said.
The girl stated that the teacher, with whom she had been in constant contact all night Tuesday, had asked her to meet him in Machakos the next day (Wednesday).
She asked the teacher if she could be accompanied by two of her friends, and the teacher agreed.
When they arrived in town, the student stated that they walked to the Quickmart supermarket and dialed the teacher’s number.
The teacher told them to look for him at Machakos Glass, a glass shop. Boda boda drivers took them to the shop.
When they arrived and called again, he directed them to the hotel, where he waited for them outside and hugged each of them before they went inside.
According to police, the hugging may have raised eyebrows, drawing the attention of members of the public.
The residents later followed the four into the hotel, leading to the arrest of the teacher.
They were curious as to what the teacher was doing with the minors.
