Cybercrime Experts To Trace Origin Sender of Examination Leakages, Machogu Warns
The government has dispatched cybercrime specialists to prevent instances of cheating on upcoming national exams.
Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu stated that the specialists can trace the origin of any examination-related message.
“The Government has deployed cybercrime experts across the country to help monitor the exams. This is aimed at promoting sanctity that the national examinations deserve,” said Machogu.
On Friday in Homa Bay High School, the CS addressed examination centre managers from Migori and Homa Bay counties.
He added that the specialists will also protect parents and students from con artists peddling exam materials online.
Learners are currently preparing for three major national exams: the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), and the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KEPSEA), which is for Grade Six students in the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
Those who are seen distributing academic materials online under the guise of exam leaks will be arrested and punished, according to Machogu.
In addition, the CS advised parents, students, and educators to report anyone who distributes such information to security officials, stressing that they had agreed with security officials on how to handle exam leak whistleblowers.
Machogu was there with Julius Jwan, the Principal Secretary of Basic Education; David Njeng’ere, the CEO of the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC); Moses Lilan, the County Commissioner of Homa Bay; and Eunice Khambe, the County Education Director.
The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Hon. Ezekiel Machogu, on behalf of the Multi-Agency Examinations Administration Team, has assured the public that every precaution has been taken to ensure the smooth administration of the three national examinations.
