Prof George Magoha, Cabinet Secretary for Education, has praised the Competence-Based Curriculum (CBC) for encouraging parental involvement and instilling ethical values in students.
Prof Magoha argued that, in contrast to the previous 8-4-4 examination-oriented system of education, CBC has created an environment in which no learner is disadvantaged.
“The CBC takes care of the ability of every learner so that they are handled accordingly as well as identifies and nurtures talents,” he observed while inspecting a CBC classroom project at Ingidi Friends’ Secondary school in Vihiga Sub County on Wednesday.
According to the CS, 72% of the 10,000 classrooms that will be built across the country have been completed, with the remainder in the final stages of construction.
He assured the public that there would be no financial impropriety because his officers would inspect and verify the work at all of the schools where classrooms are being built.

The former university dean expressed confidence that the projects would be completed before the start of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) on March 7th, this year.
Over 2,000 Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms have been completed, with 350 already commissioned.
Prof George Magoha, Education Cabinet Secretary (CS), stated that the total completion rate of the 6,497 classrooms was at 70%, with contractors put on notice to ensure they meet the March 7th deadline.

The CS, who spoke while commissioning two CBC classrooms at Mangu High School in Juja Sub County, said Central and Nairobi Counties lagged behind, with Garissa, Mandera, and Wajir leading the way with 99 percent, 94 percent, and 90 percent completion rates, respectively.
He stated that education officials will focus on counties that are making slow progress in order to meet the deadlines.
